Gerald Morin and Sylvia Bruns:
Gerald Morin has been a member of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal since 1993. With the OSM, Gerald has toured frequently throughout Europe, Asia, and South America and recorded for Decca, Sony, Analekta, Radio-Canada, and the CBC. Gerald grew up in British Columbia and received his formative training with James Hunter at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. In addition to his work with the OSM, Gerald teaches privately as his schedule allows. He also performs as a recitalist, most often with his wife - pianist Sylvia Bruns.
Sylvia Bruns has lived and worked as a pianist in Montreal for the past 35 years. As an accompanist, she has worked at McGill University, Marianopolis College, with the Orchestre Metropolitain, and with various chamber ensembles and soloists. Originally from British Columbia, she studied with Dr. Robin Wood at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Marc Durand at McGill University and the Université de Montréal. She maintains an active private piano studio in addition to being the Music Director at Christ Church Beaurepaire.
Gerald and Sylvia currently reside in Baie-D'Urfé, Québec, where they enjoy messing around in the garden and try to keep up with their children and grandchildren.
Douglas Ohashi:
Currently thriving as a freelance bassist in Ottawa, Mississauga native Douglas Ohashi recently held positions in the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. He has also had a rich freelancing career in the Toronto area as a substitute player for ensembles such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, and has performed as a soloist in Toronto's 21C festival.
Douglas is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, Glenn Gould School, and University of Toronto. He has studied with some of the foremost players and pedagogues in North America including Ira Gold, Jeffrey Beecher, and Edward Tait.
Stephanie Morin:
Originally from Montreal, Stephanie Morin is Second Flute and Piccolo with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and teaches at the University of Ottawa. Previously, she held positions as Assistant Principal Flute with the Edmonton Symphony, and Principal Flute of the Laval and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean orchestras. Stephanie takes every opportunity to perform chamber music, and frequently plays in chamber concerts at the NAC.
Stephanie attended McGill University and the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, studying with flutists Carolyn Christie, Denis Bluteau, and Marie-Andrée Benny. She has also performed with ensembles such as Les Violons du Roy, the Orchestre Métropolitain, and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and was a prize-winner at the OSM Competition, the Canadian Music Competition, and the Prix d'Europe.
